Personally, I see any SL viewer that forces a scripted object to be worn without my specific consent as a privacy issue. There is one simple reason, Firestorm gets around the dumbness of the SL Viewer via a Scripted Bridge Object that is forced on the user. You may say the Firestorm inbuilt AO doesn’t feel laggy, this is true, so why can’t Catznip have one. Additionally, viewer AO’s will always be lagged by a few seconds simply because a SL viewer is dumb, you do something and the viewer sends that to the server to ask what happened. For example an attached AO can do attachment to attachment communication for example between the AO and an RLV enabled collar. HUD attached AO’s can do things a viewer based AO can’t. Due to the nature of how much area search functionality hammers a region it is currently not available in the Catznip viewer. There are very few users who have legitimate use for a local area object search. Besides, the anchor point is not a true indicator of where a person may actually be looking, its simply the point the system chooses to anchor your camera on. If they did they wouldn’t complain and they would likely turn off the ability to broadcast camera anchors.īottom line is it’s no one’s business where your camera is anchored (this is also the opinion of Linden Lab). Ultimately people who complain about cross hairs have very little knowledge of how the technical side of SL works or why there has to be camera anchoring. My advise if anyone complains about you staring at them, too bad. Unlike other viewers that exploit it by associating an agent name with a camera anchor, there is no exploitation of agent name association with camera anchors under the Catznip viewer. I therefore don’t care were your camera is pointing or anchoring. I for one have it disabled so I have no idea were my camera decides to anchor. What is represented below was the preset that was active at the time. For graphics I switch between several presets. I have screen shot a whole selection of screens and included them in a slideshow, some of the less important, mainly aesthetic ones are not included. I keep my toolbar to an absolute minimum only showing the tools I use more frequently, for some reason I like its location at the bottom. You can drag and drop each tool to either left side, right side, top or bottom. Right clicking the toolbar allows you to either add or remove toolbar buttons. How each individual sets up their viewer should be based on your own preferences along with the capabilities of the PC your running on and network bandwidth. For Transparency the other SL viewer I use for specific functions is Black Dragon. I actively encourage others to use Catznip which is why I wrote this page covering some of its basic features.
